A Better Alternative to Traditional Daycare

Why spend money for daycare, tutoring and Martial Arts classes when you can get all three in one?!

The VMA's Afterschool Program is our newest addition to our Gym! Our afterschool program is designed for busy parents who want more than traditional afterschool care. Instead of spending the afternoon in front of a screen or behind a phone, children stay engaged, active, and productive in a safe and structured environment.

Students can receive transportation from school (see school listings) by our designated gym staff, have dedicated time to complete homework with on-site tutoring assistance available, and participate in exciting activities that build confidence, focus, and teamwork. Each day will include professional martial arts instruction time that will develop discipline, respect, fitness and valuable self defense skills. 

At the VMA we believe that the hours after school should be an opportunity for growth. Our program gives parents peace of mind knowing their children are being cared for in a positive enviroment where they are encouraged daily.

MEET OUR STAFF

Mrs. Courtney Strain

Mrs. Strain along with her husband, Cody Strain are owners of the Valley Martial Arts.

"Ms. Courtney" studied Family and Early Childhood Development at Indiana State University. Ms. Courtney was the Children's Department director at the Vigo County YMCA and assistant camp director for the YMCA children's summer camp. Prior to that, Ms. Courtney was an annual counselor for the children's summer camps at Heritage Baptist Church in Clay City.

Ms. Courtney has been our primary children's instructor at the VMA since 2018. She is also our women's self defense instructor and a Krav Maga instructor. Ms. Courtney holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Karate.

Ms. Stiel Wall

Ms. Wall has been with the Valley Martial Arts since 2020. Ms. Wall studied Early Childhood Development at Indiana State University. She has been a Sunday School teacher and assistant to the Children's Minister at First Southern Baptist Church since 2009; she continues to serve in the Children's Department there. 

Ms. Wall is an assistant Children's Instructor at the VMA, Krav Maga Instructor and Brown Brown Belt Level 1 in our Karate Program.
